First graduates of the postgraduate Master’s programme “Human Rights”
The first graduates of the Master’s programme “Human Rights” (LL.M./MLS) under the direction of our academic director Michael Lysander Fremuth were properly celebrated in the Great Festival Hall of the University of Vienna.
On Mon., 10 October 2022, the graduates, their families and friends as well as the teachers of the programme gathered to celebrate the success of the graduates and the handing over of the diplomas. The Master’s programme “Human Rights” was successfully launched in 2021 as a cooperation between the University of Vienna and the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Fundamental and Human Rights (LBI-GMR) and is characterised by the special interweaving of academic knowledge with practical skills. Additionally, the great diversity of teachers and students ensures that theoretical and practical knowledge is conveyed from multiple perspectives, which should enable participants to generate real added value as human rights lawyers in everyday life in the future.
In their speeches, Peter Lieberzeit, president of the Master’s programme, Michael Lysander Fremuth, academic director of the Master’s programme, and Miriam Soldan, graduate of the Master’s programme, emphasised the individual achievements of the students and their importance for human rights science and practice. Among other things, the diverse perspectives conveyed in the programme were discussed. In particular, the programme’s focus on actuality and the successful combination of academic analysis and practical commitment to human rights were highlighted.
We congratulate the graduates and wish them all the best for the future and their work for human rights!
