ILA/ADI White Paper Migration

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the International Law Association a white paper on migration was recently published. Adel-Naim Reyhani of the LBI-GMR contributed to it.

Migration is one of the greatest challenges facing humanity in the 21st century. Therefore, under the coordination of the International Law Association (ILA/ADI), numerous experts wrote a white paper on migration in 2021-2022. Asylum and migration expert Adel-Naim Reyhani from the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Fundamental and Human Rights (LBI-GMR) worked as part of the steering committee on the white paper.

The paper was created under the coordination of Vasilka Sancin (University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Law) and Thibaut Fleury Graff (University of Paris-Saclay) on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the ILA/ADI. It is intended to serve as a basis for discussion for the anniversary celebrations to be held in 2023.

At the core, the white paper addresses the following two questions:

  • In what kind of international society do we want to live by 2050?
  • What form must international law take to ensure such an international society?

The paper is not purely academic, but aims to gather the views and thoughts of people from many different parts of the world, different generations, professional profiles and backgrounds. From people who have experienced migration themselves over people working or studying in the field of migration to renowned migration experts, everyone has a voice in the paper.

The white paper on migration can be found in the download area.
