Universal Periodic Review (UPR): 250 organisations report on the human rights situation in Austria
Under the leadership of the Österreichische Liga für Menschenrechte (Austrian League for Human Rights), 250 civil society organisations have written a supplementary report to the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of the UN Human Rights Council. The result shows a clear need for action: 150 complaints about the human rights situation were identified.
The Österreichische Liga für Menschenrechte coordinated the joint report in which the organisations suggest improvements, make demands, but also point out progress in their respective areas of expertise. The Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Human Rights (BIM) contributed its expertise in the areas of defendant’s rights, children’s rights, asylum and penal rights.
